It looks cool, but in practice I'm not sure how it's any better than just using my mouse or a touchscreen. After all, my hand is already on the mouse, right? Don't see how it'd be easier to reposition my hand over the touch bar vs repositioning my mouse over the equivalent on-screen control.

oh my god, do you expect me to look at the screen when browsing, and then look down to the touch pad, and then look up again? LOL

I guess you have to have one in front of you to really get a feel for it but I can't see how having an extra menu strip on the keyboard is going to be faster than a mouse-click.

Next, I thought the late October launch was to allow for Kabylake rather than skylake.

Would need a lot of dongles.

The 15" starting config would run just over $4000 (Canadian) with taxes.
Yikes, I really like macOS but this kind of money would truly buy me a Windows 10 monster system.

Why not just make touch screen laptop or put a version of Mac OS touch on an iPad Pro?

Congrats, Apple! A long 1" wide touch screen is new innovation when yesterday Microsoft showed off a 28" 5K touch screen that you can use a pen and wheel with. Amazing innovation.

Maybe the magic of the Touch Bar is evident once used, but it looks pretty bad. Silly bad, almost. It looks like a novelty at best, and an inconvenience at worst. I'm shocked Apple would implement something like this

I think that the biggest problem with this is that the user will have to keep switching looking at the bad and the screen, IMO that's really bad because if all of the stuff is at screen you can just 'do' things without shifting your focus anywhere else.
