Apple announced on Thursday its latest Back-to-School promotion. Similar to last year’s deal, students and teachers can get a free pair of Beats Solo 2 Wireless headphones with the purchase of an eligible Mac.
Apple is also offering $200 off a pair of Beats Solo 2 Wireless headphones — or a free pair of Powerbeats 2 Wireless headphones — when you buy an eligible iPhone or iPad.
The deal — which right now is only available in the U.S. (though Apple frequently has similar promotion in its other higher education stores) — is available at Apple stores, Apple Authorized Campus stores and Apple’s higher-education online store between June 2, 2016 and Sept. 5, 2016.
For the free pair of Beats Solo 2 Wireless headphones (which normally retail for $300), you can get them with the purchase of the latest MacBook, the MacBook Air, a MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini or Mac Pro. Refurbished computers are not eligible.
For the Powerbeats 2 Wireless headphones (which retail for $200), the deal applies to the iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 2, the iPhone 6, the iPhone 6S and the iPhone SE.
The color options for Powerbeats 2 Wireless are red, black, black sport, white sport, red active, yellow active and blue active. The color options for the Solo 2 Wireless are black, blue, red, white, gold, rose gold, silver, space gray, blue active, red active and yellow active.
You don’t have to get your Beats in rose gold, but I would.
All said, this is a great promotion. A free $300 pair of headphones with a new computer — or a $200 pair with a new iPhone or iPad — is something I expect a lot of students (and parents) to be excited about.
